Life is lifing me real bad… But the show must go on and I WILL roll with the punches even if a few land! In this “Hey What If…” episode of Jarhead, we see Mason wearing a familiar outfit to many anime fans.
Yes!! He’s wearing the same gi as Goku from Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, etc! The creator, Akira Toriyama recently passed after creating the series around forty years ago. It’s crazy that a story made so long ago still has so much impact to younger generations around the world. I know he probably didn’t think the story would become so popular but thankfully it did. The series inspired many other popular series like Eiichiro Oda’s “One Piece” (my favorite) and Masashi Kishimoto’s “Naruto”, as well as many more series. I wish I had more time and energy to make a more impactful tribute, but down the line I will. Anyways, thank you Akira Toriyama for creating such a monumental series that has impacted so many people around the world and inspired them to push through their own obstacles in life even if we can turn Super Saiyan.

Unrelated, you may be wondering “Where’s the comic thingy you’ve been working on?” It’s coming… Just life gets in the way and life knows just how to really make a road block. But I’ll get the second episode out soon. Recently, I went down to Rittenhouse Square down in center city in Philadelphia to take some reference photos to use. I’ve been going to that park for years now and usually go to Barnes and Nobles down there to buy books. The park there is beautiful in the spring and summer time and I’ll be using these references for background artwork. I need to practice that a lot more. But enough talking and more drawing! And less procrastinating! At least a little bit.
