Meet Tyler
Tyler Gillen is a senior here at West Chester University. He is a media major with a minor in media and culture. Tyler was born in Langhorne, PA with his mom, dad, and older brother. He graduated from Neshaminy High School in 2014. His future career plans include working in Sports Media and Broadcasting Industry for a major sports company. One word to describe Tyler is hard-working because he puts all of his effort into everything to achieve his goals. When it comes to school and his hobbies, Tyler always puts his all in.
Tyler’s Hobbies
Tyler Gillen is a senior here at West Chester University. He is a communication major with a minor in media and culture. Tyler was born in Langhorne, PA with his mom, dad, and older brother. He graduated from Neshaminy High School in 2014. His future career plans include working in Sports Media and Broadcasting Industry for a major sports company. One word to describe Tyler is hard-working because he puts all of his effort into everything that he does in order to achieve his goals.
Tyler has a pretty wide variety of interests and hobbies. His sophomore year of high school, he decided that he wanted to join the jazz program at school. That’s when he started to play the tenor saxophone! Tyler has been playing this instrument ever since. He has been a member of the West Chester Incomparable Golden Rams Marching band for three consecutive seasons. He is also involved with RamCenter and the Pep Band. Tyler has made so many memories by being a part of the marching band and loves every second of it! His dream vacation is to visit Germany and experience the Oktoberfest.
Growing Up
While growing up, Tyler found inspiration from his parents because they were always supportive and strives for him to succeed in every aspect of his life. This helped him to achieve his goals and always follow his dreams. After high school graduation, he started school at Bucks County Community College and transferred to West Chester University in 2016. Tyler first majored in Business Management but quickly switched to Communication Studies because of his strong interest in writing. He took classes such as Content Strategy and Communicating in TV and Radio which peaked his interest in social media and broadcast. Once in the Communication Studies major, he found an interest in learning about the broadcasting and social media industry. Because of this passion, he plans to work in Sports Media and a Broadcasting for a major sports company. This is important to him because of his strong interest and passion in the subject.
Tyler’s Favorite College Memory
Tyler’s greatest college memory was traveling to Indianapolis to perform in Lucas Oil Stadium for the Band of America Grand National Championships. Tyler also performed in the Mummers parade in Philadelphia, which he will never forget! These are moments that he will always cherish from his college career at West Chester University.
Advice from Tyler
Tyler’s advice is that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. Do what you love and follow your dreams. These are words that Tyler has lived by throughout his college career. Tyler feels that they have led him in the right path!
