If you don’t know, Galentine’s Day is a day to celebrate friendship in all its forms. It was started in a 2010 episode of the sitcom Parks and Recreation by Amy Poehler’s character Leslie Knope. Every year on February 13th, Poehler’s character holds a brunch for her female friends, without their significant others, to celebrate each other.
This year, we’re over the stress of Valentine’s Day and are taking a page from Leslie Knope’s book and focusing on our friends instead. So if you’re looking for your plans for February 13th, that aren’t the traditional brunch, follow our guide to a stress-free Galentine’s Day.
Dress Code
First thing’s first, what to wear. This year, we’re foregoing the dresses and heels. Instead, you’re going to need some comfy pjs. Your pjs can match, be your favorite color, or even just be a robe or your favorite t-shirt. As long as you’re comfortable, you’re off to a great start.
Good Food
Now that everyone is nice and cozy it is time for the food. No girl’s night is complete without a charcuterie board. This is all about personal preference. You could throw whatever you like on this board and there are plenty of tutorials on the internet to make it as fancy as you want. Although the charcuterie board is the main character, it isn’t a Galentine’s day without all your favorite dips. My personal favorite is a buffalo chicken dip but go with whatever dips you and your gals think is the best!
Sit Back and Relax
The next thing you are going to need to keep your Galentine’s day exciting is access to your favorite show and some fun spa activities. Whether it be a face mask from Rite Aid, mani/pedis, or amateur hairdressing – every gal deserves some time to unwind. This is the definition of actual Netflix and chill.
Chocolate.
Lastly, it wouldn’t be Galentine’s day without some chocolate. In my opinion, you can never have too much chocolate. A tasty treat great for galentine’s day is chocolate covered strawberries. This could either be a fun activity for the gals or a nice prepared tasty treat to end the night.
Hopefully, these few tips help you put together the best night for you and your gals.
